Individual Assessments

| PCI offers individual assessments for a variety of organizations across various industries. Individual assessments evaluate one individual at a time versus a group of participants in an Assessment Center.
PCI tailors individual assessments to clients' needs depending on the position under consideration. PCI prepares written evaluation reports for client organizations, detailing strengths and developmental needs of the person being assessed.

The individual assessment program involves a full day of assessment activities, including:
- Management simulation exercises
- Aptitude and ability tests
- Personality evaluation procedures
Management Simulation Exercises
Inbox Exercise
The participant assumes the role of a general manager who has just taken over a large operation and is confronted with an accumulation of correspondence, including letters, memos, and e-mail messages, all of which require a response. This 2½-hour exercise covers a broad range of problems.
Coaching and Counseling Interview Simulation
In the role of a new operations director, the participant counsels a manager who is experiencing difficulties as a new department manager. This individual is characterized as being extremely bright and ambitious but overly brash in her dealings with others. The participant is challenged with trying to effect some change in the subordinate's behavior during the 30-minute interview session.
Aptitude and Ability Tests
General Mental Ability
This closely timed paper-and-pencil test measures general mental ability, the ability to learn, comprehend, solve problems, and adjust to changing situations. The test yields an overall score for general mental ability as well as scores for verbal skill and quantitative skill.
Critical Thinking Appraisal
This untimed test measures the individual's practical problem solving skill, including the ability to draw inferences based on sufficient data; recognize assumptions taken for granted in statements; reason by deduction to a conclusion that necessarily follows the statement; decide whether certain interpretations can be logically made; and determine whether arguments concerning a series of questions are strong or weak.

Background Interview
A PCI staff consultant conducts a comprehensive background interview with the participant, exploring career accomplishments, future goals, strengths and weaknesses, and management style issues.
